The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland represents over 9,000 anaesthetists in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The Anaesthesia Heritage Centre in Portland Place, London is open to specialists and the general public. There is no charge, but appointments are recommended. It comprises a museum with a collection of objects dating back to 1774, the Association's own archives, which date back to 1932, and a reference library.
The Association's motto is “in somno securitas” (safe in sleep). The Association's official journal is Anaesthesia (journal).
