Cerebrals Society is an international society for people who have a documented IQ score of at least 144 sd16 from standardized, professional tests of intelligence only. This means that membership is open for the top 0.3% of people along the IQ spectrum. For comparison Mensa, the most widely recognized IQ organization accepts people scoring in the top 2% or an IQ of 132 sd16. In turn it means that Cerebrals is about six times more selective than Mensa.

History

Cerebrals was founded in December 1999 by Xavier Jouve who holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. Over time the society has evolved into a growing organization which keeps providing its members with intellectual peerage and a chance to meet across distances thus reducing the sense of isolation (not at all physical) often present in varying degrees in highly gifted people.

Admission

To become a member of Cerebrals one must provide a documented evidence of a performance at or above the 99.7th percentile (an IQ of 144 sd16 or 141 sd15 respectively) on a standardized, professional test of intelligence reviewed and approved by the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements.

In the Media

Cerebrals Society is featured on the Beautiful Mind website[1] in the Formulas>Genius Resources section.

Members

The number of members has been growing steadily over the last eight years of existence. Membership is free, voluntary and for life. Statistics show that the mean IQ of members has fluctuated between 147 sd16 and 152 sd16. Membership is international with approximately half of the members coming from the European continent and the other half from countries worldwide.

Officers

Cerebrals Society has six officers elected annually by the general membership. Heading the society are two Co-Presidents, assisted by a Vice-President, Psychometrician, Publisher and Web Officer.
