Molluscicides are pesticides used in agriculture or gardening, specifically to control molluscan pest species. These pesticides are intended to target certain slug and snail species that can damage crops by partially eating them.
These substances include metaldehyde, methiocarb and aluminium sulfate. Molluscicides should however be used with caution, as they can be harmful to non-target animals. Most molluscicides are not used in organic gardening, though there are exceptions, such as iron phosphate.
