Pyritinol (or Pyrithioxin) is a strong synthetic antioxidant and nootropic.[citation needed] Chemically, it is related to vitamin B6 compounds, such as pyridoxine. [citation needed]. It increases the brain's electrical firing rate[citation needed] and boosts glucose metabolism.[citation needed]
One small study with 12 subjects given pyritinol showed an improvement in performance on tests of reaction time, but not on memory tests.[1]
