Waynesburg University is a private, Christian, liberal arts college located in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, USA. The university offers graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations, and enrolls over 2,100 students, including about 1,300 undergraduates. The college emphasizes leadership and service in its students.
It was founded in 1849 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. It is currently affiliated with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
A new Center for Research and Economic Development was to be completed in the fall of 2006, and aims to stimulate economic development in southwestern Pennsylvania through scientific research, expertise, resources, and partnerships.

Community Service
Through the Center for Service Leadership, students are connected with organizations according to their field of study to offer assistance in day-to-day projects. The college community commits over 38,000 hours of service each year to over 50 agencies and community projects. The University responds in times of disaster to offer help to those in need both locally and world-wide.[citation needed]
The University is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and is one of 27 Bonner Scholar schools in the country, offering local, regional and international opportunities to touch the lives of others through service.
Graduate and Professional Studies
The Graduate School of Professional Studies program offers degrees in business, nursing, education, and counseling psychology in three Pittsburgh locations as well as in Waynesburg. The Master of Business Administration program is the fourth largest in the Pittsburgh region.[citation needed] Waynesburg University also offers a Doctoral Program of Nursing Practice.
Athletics
Waynesburg University's athletics, the Yellow Jackets, compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). The Yellow Jackets cross country teams are headed by coach Blair Zimmerman, which hosted the PAC championship meet and NCAA mideast regional meet during the 2006 cross country season. In 1939, Waynesburg College's football team played in the first televised football game against Fordham University. The Yellow Jackets football team won the NAIA 1966 National Championship Game in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Notable former athletes
- John (Jack) Wiley, former National Football League player (Pittsburgh Steelers), University of Pittsburgh Assistant Coach, and Waynesburg University's football stadium bears his name.
